BARNSLEY’S singing talent is getting a shot at the big time as The Voice UK brings heats to Barnsley.

Organised by Michelle Ruse, who runs Dramatise Theatre School on Stock’s Lane, ITV is looking for tomorrow’s singing superstars with auditions at Horizon Community College, on Dodworth Road, later this month.

And Michelle has the difficult job of whittling down which applicants will get to perform in front of the show’s producers, for a chance to make it through to the next stage in London.

Michelle said: “I want to show Barnsley off, as I’m a Barnsley girl myself. Auditions will be one acapella song, I’m not allowing backing tracks - I think if you can sing, you can sing. It’s the song of the auditionee’s choice. After performing there will be an interview to camera, and then if you get through you’ll go through to the next stage with the spinning chairs in London.”
