THIEVES have struck at a Grimethorpe school for the second time in two weeks.

Hanging baskets were taken from Milefield Primary, on Milefield Lane, at the beginning of June - scuppering its Yorkshire in Bloom entry - and fencing was stolen from Grimethorpe Family Centre, a nursery on the school’s site, last Thursday.

The fencing, which has only been in situ for a matter of weeks, was around the nursery’s children’s play area.

CCTV picked up two men at around 2.30am - footage which is now being investigated by police.

Michelle Graham, assistant manager, said: “The kids are devastated as they’ve destroyed their play area - it only opened a few weeks ago and already it’s been targeted.

“More than £200 has been raised by parents this week to fund replacement fencing, but we want anyone with information to contact the police.”
