THURGOLAND is to lose one of its landmarks after councillors decided the village clock was too expensive to maintain.
The clock has been beset by a series of mechanical problems and was deemed to be beyond economical repair.
But the cost of a replacement, approaching £800, was regarded as too expensive by Thurgoland Parish Council, which decided to remove the clock instead.
