COMEDY performances will take place every Thursday throughout April as part of a funny festival coming back to the town.

Barnsley Market will welcome Funny Thursdays as part of the April Fools Barnsley Comedy Festival. Each Thursday comedy performances will take place near the escalators in the atrium of Barnsley Market at 11am, 1pm and 3pm throughout April, and feature a variety of family friendly fun.

The festival returns to Barnsley for its fourth year and features headline acts including Mock the Week regular Gary Delaney - who brings his show, Gangster’s Paradise, to The Civic on Friday April 26.

Glenn Moore, another Mock the Week star, will perform at The Garrison on Wednesday April 10 and comedian Jessica Fostekew will appear at The Old Picture House on Sunday April 7.

Other venues to feature shows will include The Electric Theatre, Annie Murray’s Irish Bar, Zinc Bar and Jock’s Cavern.

Barnsley-born comedian Toby Foster - most famously known for his BBC Radio Sheffield Breakfast Show and role in the sitcom Phoenix Nights - will host The Last Laugh Comedy Club at The Civic on Saturday April 27.

Other acts scheduled to appear will include Carl Hutchinson, Bilal Zafar, Grainne Maguire, Kate Fox, The Noise Next Door, Ben van der Velde, Abigoliah Schumaun, George Egg, Steve Bugeja and Seymour Mace.
