THE glorious age of steam returns to Barnsley when a steam train named ‘The Tin Bath’ passes through the borough on Sunday.

Named in tribute to Yorkshire’s famous sitcom Last of the Summer Wine, the ‘double header’ featuring two ‘Black Five’ steam locomotives will pass through Barnsley Interchange without stopping at about 2.15pm. Before that it will be seen pulling through Elsecar and Wombwell on its journey from Sheffield, and then on through Dodworth and Penistone on its way to Huddersfield and then Manchester.

It’s part of a railway Touring Company tour which sets out on a circular route from Preston at 9.09am returning at 7.15pm after calling at Preston, Wigan, Bolton, Manchester and Sheffield.
