Toasted Take Out only opened four weeks ago, but it has already found a stream of regular customers looking to create their own take on a traditional toastie.

Owner Debra Hammonds, 48, from Wentworth Meadows, Penistone, said: “We do a gourmet of the week toastie, so last week we had pistachio and parsley pesto, the week before we had Mumbai spiced coriander. And when we first opened up, we had all these available on the menu. But lots of people were coming in and asking for specific things adding or taking off, so we now let people choose their own. One customer even ordered a tomato, bacon and peanut butter one.”
