Here's one bog that really is built like a brick sh*thouse.
When Ian Grummet wanted to demolish the Victorian toilets attached to the Old Town Hall pub in Wombwell to make way for a function room, he thought it would be a simple job.
But the solid construction of the former privy, which has not been used for more than 20 years, soon put pay to that idea.
"It's taken nearly three weeks to knock that down," Ian said. "They were hitting it with jigger picks (electric drills) and it was just bouncing off because, before they could even get to the brickwork, the walls were coated with this grano-screed concrete rendering. They built them to last in those days."
The workmen finally managed to get through the wall this week to make way for the planned 'WC Bar' function room - which will be constructed out of steel and glass and face out onto Station Road.
The toilets were constructed in 1897 with the town hall, which housed Wombwell District Council until it was abolished in 1974, and continued to be used until about 20 years ago.
Ian said the urinal in the toilets was constructed of porcelain and there was still graffiti from the 'Wombwell Fives' dating back to the 1980s.
But it is not the first toilet in Wombwell to resist demolition. A Victorian urinal on Kings Road managed to repel a bulldozer when it was up for demolition about 20 years ago and had to be dismantled brick by brick.
