PRIMARY school pupils got the chance to train with an athlete after winning a competition.

Churchfield Primary School in Cudworth received a visit from Scottish relay sprinter Beth Dobbin last week, after the grandparents of pupils Thomas and Rose Gentry won a competition with Muller.

Through the competition win, both Colin and Deborah Gentry won £2,000 of sports equipment for the school as well as sports sessions with Beth, who is the daughter of former Barnsley FC player Jim Dobbin.

Year four teacher and PE lead Danielle Wigston said: “It was a great day, Beth did an assembly with the children and she also did a question and answer session.

“Then we selected four classes to take part in physical activity sessions with her. They did different training sessions.

“The children were really excited and some of the questions they were asking were great.”
