A KENDRAY primary school is one of the most improved in the country.

The Forest Academy, a member of the Wellspring group, is the most improved school in the region and among the top ten most improved schools in England this year.
Figures from the Department for Education show a phenomenal 50 per cent leap in one year of the number of 11-year-olds working at the level expected for their age.

Similar exceptional progress was recorded at the school by children in year one phonics and in standards achieved by seven-year-olds.
The remarkable turn around in fortunes at the Thornton Road school has been achieved under the inspired leadership of principal Sam Bailey.

Mrs Bailey said of the school's success: "The progress made at Forest these past 12 months is extraordinary. I have a wonderful staff team who are determined to be their best selves every day. We are blessed to have fantastic children who inspire us to be better than ever before, and a wonderful community behind us."
