THE FIRST real sign of demolition in the town centre started with a bang yesterday, as the Kendray Street bridge was brought down.

The concrete structure, stretching between the old council Central Offices and the former TEC building, was 'chewed' to pieces as part of the council's £50m plan to regenerate the town centre.

The multi storey car park will follow around February time. The Better Barnsley demolition work also includes the market offices and the TEC building.
