A CARING Penistone family is all set to light up Christmas for a good cause.

For the 14th year, the Baumbers are illuminating their house to raise money for charity.

And this year proceeds from the popular event will be for the local Happy Cafe, which works to boost well-being among residents.

Last year, the bonanza of lights at the Long Furlong home raised £600 for Penistone Bumping Spaces.

“We would love to beat that,” said Stephen Baumber. “Every year we have beaten the previous year’s total and we are hoping to smash it again this time.

“We have had already had some donations, which is a good start. We hope lots of people will turn up to boost the fundraising.”

For 2019’s display there will be some new lights, including a family of reindeer.

“It’s bigger and better,” said Mr Baumber. “It is all about putting a smile on people’s faces.”

The lights switch-on is at 6.30pm at 18 Long Furlong, Penistone on Saturday, November 30. Fireworks and supper will follow.
