Cudworth boxer Andy Townend could move a step closer to a major title after his upcoming fight was passed as a Commonwealth title eliminator.

Townend, 25, faces Bradford's Femi Fehintola on February 28 at the Doncaster Dome.

An application for the fight to be made an eliminator for the super-featherweight Commonwealth title has been approved.

The winner of the contest would be in line to fight reigning champion Liam Walsh.

On the same Doncaster show, there will be a Barnsley derby with Robbie Barrett from Darfield squaring up against West Melton's Brad Botham in an eight-round lightweight contest.

Stairfoot's Matthew 'Buster' Mallin will return to action following a year out of the sport following his English title loss against Navid Mansouri.
