A BUS company which provides many rural services in the Penistone area has been put under close supervision by public transport bosses over the quality of its performances.

Tates Travel have been told to develop an action plan because its record for unreliable services and breakdowns involving its vehicles in the area.

There have been repeated complaints raised and parish councils in the area have written to South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, which is responsible for controlling the county's public transport, to complain.

They have confirmed the organisation has taken action to try to improve the service provided by Tates, which has a contract to provide services.
