THREE men who were allegedly travelling in a stolen HGV when it fatally struck a pedestrian in Brierley will appear for the start of their trial at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday.

David Mellor, 48, of Bank End Road, Worsbrough Dale, Wayne Carroll, 29, of Chestnut Street, Grimethorpe, and 55-year-old Alan Mawhinney, of Calder Crescent, Kendray, all face charges of aggravated vehicle taking. Another man, 23-year-old Karn Hill, of East View, Cudworth, previously pleaded guilty to causing 58-year-old Jacqueline Wileman’s death in the incident, which happened on Common Road on September.

Hill will be sentenced following the trial of Mellor, Carroll and Mawhinney, which is expected to last for one week.
