FINES issued to Barnsley parents for the unauthorised school absence of children resulted in three prosecutions, the Chronicle has learned.
Unauthorised absence can be classed as anything from truancy, parentally-controlled absences, excluded pupils found in a public places during school hours to persistent late arrival for school.
Liable parents receive formal warning from the council of a possible fine being issued and are given 15 school days to improve their child’s overall school attendance.
