A SERIES of unsolved Barnsley murders are set to be reinvestigated by a specialist police team.

One of those cases is that of Vera Cooper, who was strangled in her Grimethorpe home in 2002.

Former Detective Superintendent Dave Wilson was a senior investigating officer at the time, but retired in 2003.

He said: “I think it was the only case that remained undetected during my time, or that I was involved in. I would have loved to have resolved it satisfactorily but that wasn’t the case. If there is any way subsequently or any reviews which might help to find the killer at least, I’m all for it.”
