A CHILDREN'S play area inside Cudworth Park has been fixed after vandals struck for the second time this year.
Yobs targeted the well-used playground at the end of May, tearing up chunks of its soft polyurethane surface, but last week saw a council team patch up the damage.
Coun Charlie Wraith said: "Kids really love this area and the teenagers shouldn't be coming into it. It's disgraceful behaviour and most definitely fuelled by alcohol. We're sick of cleaning up after them.
"Those responsible can't be aware that it's their parents who end up footing the repair bill through council tax."
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
