VANDALS have struck on two consecutive nights at Penistone Cricket Club, leaving the organisation with a four figure repair bill.

During the first attack a cover for one of the wickets was slashed and some minor damage caused to the pavilion. But offenders returned to the ground at Queen Street, Springvale, the night after to inflict further damage, ripping long 'slats' from screens which protect the surrounding area.

Club chairman Steve Reid said: "It is sickening, we are all volunteers and we try to make the place nice and provide something for the community."
