VANDALS have attacked the Mates of Milton's handcrafted wooden community noticeboard - that cost £3,000 to create.

They sawed three quarters of the way through both supporting legs on the free-standing wooden noticeboard. It was only saved from collapse by an unknown passerby.

Mates of Milton member Kelly Hardy said: "Luckily, whoever did this only managed to saw part way through the legs because the weight of the board and glass alone could have seriously hurt someone. It's so heavy it took four men to put it up."

The board, designed by local people and handmade by a local carpenter, was paid for by the community through fund-raising.
