DRAMATIC video footage of a blaze near Shafton has been uploaded to YouTube this evening.

Sean Donnison shared the footage on his YouTube channel. It shows several explosions and a fireball rising into the sky on a farm just outside South Hiendley.

Several reports circulated of a ‘pylon explosion’ and there were reports on social media of flickering lights and electricity supply disruption. However Sean said the fire was merely ‘close to’ the pylons and wires, but did not involve them directly.

He believed a controlled fire had spread and caused nearby gas cylinders to explode.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 5.25pm to Hawthorne Street, Shafton. Pallets and cylinders were involved. Two crews from Cudworth and Barnsley attended. The fire was accidental and crews left at 7pm."
