AN application for the next phase of a Manvers business park has been submitted and is currently under public consultation.

The application made by Rotherham Council will see a building measuring 17,000 square feet and containing 35 new offices, two laboratories and 14 workshops built on Century Business Park on Dearne Lane.

The existing development was built in 2000 and has since helped more than 300 businesses. The new business centre will be managed by Rotherham Investment and Development Office, the regeneration arm of Rotherham Council, and could create up to 150 jobs.

A Rotherham Council spokesperson said: “The application is for the second phase of the popular Century Business Park.

“The project will create around 17,000 square feet of new floor space for office and clean manufacturing space for growing and new businesses.

“The centre will be a high quality employment space, available to businesses within the borough and wider Sheffield City Region.

“The development is subject to securing funding, planning and cabinet approvals.”

The application was submitted on behalf of Clugston Construction, which will build the new centre.

It states the new building will follow the arrangement of the current business centres situated within the £3.2m development as a ‘tried and tested’ model.
