STAINBOROUGH Cricket Club is mourning the death of stalwart Jack Barraclough.

The 86-year-old from Thurgoland served the club as a player, committee member, umpire, scorer, vice president and president.

He also served on the Pontefract League management committee.

A club statement said: “We are devastated. Jack will be sadly missed by all at Stainborough and in the wider cricket world. We would like to convey our sincere condolences to Jack’s family and friends. Well batted Jack.”

Jack’s funeral will be held on Wednesday at Grenoside Crematorium North Chapel, then afterwards at the Clockhouse Tea Rooms at the crematorium.
