A toy factory which exported toys all over the world is being remembered in an exhibition at Darfield museum.

Green Monk Products closed six years after the death of its founder Arthur Greenwood in 1978, aged 75.

Although he started the business making things likes kaleidoscopes, stylophones and games from rolled tin plate, in his garden shed in Monk Bretton, Arthur quickly outgrew it and set up a factory in Darfield in 1958.

In its heyday it employed more than 120 and Arthur had more than 100 patents to his name.

Chairman Geoff Hutchinson said: "Although the toys have come from the museum's collection, we've never had them all together before.

"I'm amazed at how much material we have been able to put together including toys in their original packaging and sales catalogues."
