A GROUP of volunteers has been working to improve the environment around the edge of the town centre at Town End.

The team spent Tuesday and Wednesday cleaning up, digging and planting the border at St George’s Church with a variety of shrubs and plants.

They’ve also planted honeysuckle, clematis and climbing roses at the old church site on Pitt Street, and have been building ‘bug hotels’ for creepy-crawlies.

Emma Phillips is a business development manager at Interserve Learning and Employment. The firm which has its own charity called The Interserve Employee Foundation for which Emma is an ambassador.
