A 23-YEAR-OLD who filmed a woman trying on bras in an Asda changing room has been sentenced for voyeurism.

Ryan Davies, of Westongales Way, Doncaster, followed his victim into the unisex changing rooms at the town’s Asda on January 31 last year.

He occupied a neighbouring cubicle, according Chantel Lowery-Green, prosecuting, before he reached up over the divide and filmed her for around a minute.

“The victim looked up and saw the mobile phone,” Mrs Lowery-Green added. “She rushed out and told security, who waited for Mr Davies to come out.

“Her victim personal statement says she feels angry, violated and was in shock. She was scared that the recording could have been sent to many people.”

Julian Brook, defending, said Davies, who pleaded guilty at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, fully accepted his wrongdoing and was ‘ashamed’ of his actions.

“It’s important to emphasise that the recording was not shared or passed on to anyone,” he said. “He’s a 23-year-old man who is old enough to know better and he is deeply ashamed of this incident.”

Chairman of the bench Julie White told Davies that he was lucky to avoid jail.

“Voyeurism is so serious this could easily have passed the custody threshold. This could have been imposed, but we take into account your early guilty plea and your clean previous record.”

Davies was given a two-year community order, which includes supervision for the duration, and a four-month curfew.
