A WAR hero and father of three who has battled a brain tumour for five years needs to raise at least £45,000 to prolong his life.

Jason Evans, 44, of Mulberry Close, Goldthorpe, was diagnosed around five years ago and has gone undergone treatment to reduce the size of the most severe 'grade three' tumour twice.

But the Evans family were told in January that cancerous cells were back and they now view a trip abroad for proton beam therapy as being 'their last hope'.

The treatment that could significantly improve Jason's chances of living longer is available in Prague, Czech Republic and in the USA. It is yet to be made available anywhere in the UK.

Jason served with both the Royal Horse Artillery and the now disbanded Lowland Gunners in a 24-year military career.

He fought in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq and in spite of his condition still manages to work every day as a planning administrator in Leeds.

The family have a just giving page at justgiving.com/jasonsjourney where people can donate.
