RESIDENTS in Wath are hoping to work with councillors to turn around a rundown park.

Newhill Park, off Cemetery Road, has gained a bad reputation in recent years but there are now plans being formed to build a children’s play area there.

The plans, called the Newhill Park Masterplan, are being revived from previous plans and it is hoped by local residents that they will be able to make the park more family friendly.

Coun Alan Atkin said: “The parents who are pushing the plans are very enthusiastic. They are wanting to make it happen.

“The plans are from years ago and they went out to consultation. They can obviously change the plans but that would take longer. Time isn’t really an issue because the money has got to be found first.”
