A teenager from Thurnscoe has won the Under 23 World Championships and is now hoping to emulate his father by taking the title at senior level.

Billy Webster, 19, won the event at Bridlington which featured players from Belgium, Australia, China, Spain, Malta and Norway as well as many Brits.

His father Steve, who won the senior World Championships twice, said: “It’s a great achievement for Billy. He’s been working hard on his game for a few years now and it has eventually come good for him.

“It’s great to have two world champions in the family. I think he will win the senior World Championships eventually.”
