A WELFARE support and advice service will have its budget slashed by more than 60 per cent after council bosses rubberstamped the proposals this week.
From April next year, the council’s welfare rights service will suffer a £245,000 blow to its budget and funding it is able to give to Citizens Advice, based at Wellington House, will also be cut by £95,000.
The savings have to be made as the council reins in the purse strings on every department to balance the books following further funding cuts by the government.
