A BARNSLEY mum determined to keep Wentworth Castle Gardens open to the public is taking her fight to royalty.

Campaigner Emma Robinson is writing to Prince Charles to tell him about the the demise of the Stainborough tourist attraction, which will close in spring due to a lack of funds.

Emma, 36, of Longcar Lane, Barnsley, is a regular visitor with her three children. She has started an online Crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the attraction and said it will be a dreadful loss to Barnsley if it goes.

That’s why she wants to bring its closure to the attention of Prince Charles, who toured the gardens when he visited Barnsley in 2012.

Emma told the Chronicle: “I’m composing a letter to Prince Charles, appealing to his love of gardens.

“I’m writing to him about the shock of the closure, its history and how there’s nothing else like it in the area and people’s love and affection for the site locally.”
