THE wife of a murdered Silkstone Common man has appealed for anyone with information about his death to come forward.

Gary Dean was found on September 6 close to the Trans Pennine Trail near Moorend Lane with head injuries and other extensive injuries.

His wife Caroline said his death had left a massive hole in her life.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, she said: “We spent many happy times together, had so much fun. We were both looking forward to our future together. That has all been taken away. “Gary was an only child and his parents are still struggling to accept this has happened.

“All I ask is that anyone with information, no matter how small, contacts the police.”

Police believe Gary may have been known to his attacker, and want to hear from anyone who knew Gary or may have seen him on the morning of September 6.

A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and a 76-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender both remain on bail as enquiries continue.
