Danny Wilson admits he is interested in Carlisle's Kyle Dempsey and he wants cover for defensive midfield, left-back and centre-back.

Dempsey, 19, has starred in midfield for the League Two Cumbrians this season and is typical of the lower league talent Wilson has been snapping up.

The Reds boss said: "I am very aware of him but there are several other clubs who are also looking at him. We're always looking at good players in any position for the future."

Top of the manager's January transfer window shopping list seems to be a ball-winning central midfielder. "We need somebody who can sense that danger and break up play for us and it's something we're looking for," said Wilson, who is playing James Bailey in front of his back four.

"We also want cover at centre-back because we have been left very short with a few injuries this week. Left-back is another area we are looking at as Joe Dudgeon is the only real option there at the moment, although George Smith is out on loan."

Dudgeon's deal is one of five loans until January Wilson would like to extend but he admits his focus may shift to other positions if he cannot.
