A 24-YEAR-OLD woman prone to collapsing after suffering nerve damage in her legs is considering taking legal action against Barnsley Hospital.

Anna Skeavington, of St Austell Drive, Barugh Green, claims she was not given vital fluids whilst in Barnsley Hospital with a bowel blockage two years ago.

The blockage was not picked up by medics at Barnsley - it was only found when she developed renal failure and was admitted to Sheffield Northern General. She now walks with crutches because her legs could give way at any time and has vitamin B12 injections every ten weeks after developing pernicious anaemia.

Dr Richard Jenkins, medical director at Barnsley Hospital, said: "We are sorry to hear that Ms Skeavington received care that she felt was poor. We will be responding directly to Mrs Skeavington through the Trust's formal complaints process."
