A 43-YEAR-OLD woman died just FOUR days after being told she had cancer.
Customer advisor Rachelle Beckett was apparently fit and healthy until her holiday in May when she started suffering with a pain in her side.She had been treating it with paracetamol, her grieving mother Lesley Olsson told the Chronicle.
Rachelle, of North Road, Royston, had been on the holiday in Rhodes with her partner of six years, Stephen Sinclair.
Soon after returning home, she went to see her GP who sent her straight to Barnsley Hospital.
Five days later she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer which had already spread to her liver, lungs and stomach and she died at Barnsley Hospital on June 27.
Yesterday, Dr Patricia Foster, clinical director of oncology at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said symptoms of ovarian cancer can be difficult to recognise as they can be similar to other conditions.
Rachelle worked at Cars2 on Pontefract Road, Barnsley, and her hobbies included holidaying in Greece which she did a couple of times a year, cooking and socialising.
She loved Sheffield band Pulp - their hit Common People was the first song to be played at her funeral on Monday.
Lesley said Rachelle's trademark was red lipstick and all the women who went to her funeral wore it in her memory.
