A WOMAN has won a £500,000 pay-out from Barnsley Hospital after she was mistakenly told she didn’t have breast cancer - and later needed to have both breasts removed.

And yesterday her solicitor revealed it is not the only case he is investigating in which a woman has been given the all-clear only to find out later she actually had breast cancer.

The victim, who does not want to be named, worked for the hospital and showed classic symptoms of having the disease, but despite this had to plead for a biopsy to be carried out.

When it was, it was wrongly reported to be cancer-free. It was not until she was later diagnosed with breast cancer that the mistake was discovered.
