WOMBWELL Main hopes its facilities could become a training base for visiting professional teams after Cardiff City trained there on Tuesday.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock said the team would return next year after being impressed by what is on offer at the Hough Lane ground.

Cardiff’s players, which include several internationals, trained at the ground on Tuesday afternoon ahead of playing Barnsley at Oakwell later that day, in a game that was to end in a 0-0 draw.

Main, who play in the County Senior League Premier, may seem a far cry from what the pros are used to - there are nine divisions between Cardiff and Main - but the Wombwell side is currently building new dressing rooms as part of requirements to move up the football leagues.
