WHAT do you make of this then?

At first sight it’s hard not to mistake this wooden carving erected in Dearne Valley Park for a giant penis.

It was brought to the Chronicle’s attention by Debbie Wright who spotted it at the weekend while walking her dog in the park.

The Chronicle has been to look at the sculpture and on closer inspection it appears to be a miner’s helmet hanging on what could be a prop shaft.

Debbie told the Chronicle she has since found out the sculpture has been done by a legitimate wood carver is one of a few that have been dotted around the borough.

She said: ”I’m really surprised it’s been allowed as to me and everyone I’ve shown the photo to it just looks like a giant willy sticking out of nowhere.”
