STUDENTS at a Barnsley school were treated to a special performance with an important message from a group of X-Factor stars.

New Kings Order who made it as far as the judges’ houses in the 2015 series of the television talent contest  performed for students at Netherwood Academy.

The band, who performed songs by One Direction and Little Mix, were at the school to talk about the importance of staying safe online.

As well as singing for year eight, nine and ten pupils, the London-based boy band spoke at a special ‘online safety and mental health’ assembly.

They gave advice on what should and shouldn’t be posted online, and how these things add up to form a digital footprint that never go away and could affect a person’s career or life in the future.

A spokesperson for Netherwood Academy said: “The group wanted our students to understand how cyberbullying can affect people and impact mental health and that speaking to someone a family member, teacher or friend was a great way to get help and start making things better.

“We would like to thank New Kings Order for coming into school, the students really enjoyed the performance.”
