YOBS have left a trail of devastation at a Barnsley primary school, vandalising play equipment, trashing football nets and damaging the roof.

Staff turned up to Dodworth St John’s Primary on Monday morning to find the mess in the playground, with outdoor equipment smashed, football goalposts snapped in two and the playing field littered with shards of plastic from the broken play equipment.

Executive headteacher Ian Goddard said damage had also been done to the school roof and drainpipes and pupils can’t use the field until it can be properly cleared of sharp debris.

“There has been a few issues in Dodworth with random acts of vandalism lately,” he said.
