A COMMITTED young actor who decided to face the chop for a part in a musical has raised £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support in the process.

Tom Jones, 16, took a bold approach to prepare for his role, as he shaved his head to play the part of Uncle Fester in a recent production of The Addams Family by the Real Music Centre Theatre Company.

For Tom, of Park Road, Wombwell, the role also provided the perfect opportunity to raise funds for the charity, whose ‘brave the shave’ campaign has seen people shaving their heads to raise awareness and money for cancer care.

Theatre Company director Helen Ingham said: “Tom is an outstanding performer and we at RMC believe he has a great future ahead if he chooses to go into acting as a career and can be seen in our next production Oliver on November 23 to 25.”
