A THREE-YEAR strategy to keep young people safe, tackle child poverty and ensure kids have a decent shot at life has been approved by council chiefs.

The ruling cabinet met on Wednesday to consider the Barnsley Children and Young People’s Plan for 2016-19.

It will underpin the delivery of a range of plans, policies and strategies aimed at achieving the overall ‘vision’ and strategic objectives of the council.

A key element of this will be to help build resilience and foster improvements for children, young people and families at risk of deprivation, through early help and targeted support.
