A GROUP created in Barnsley to show young people how to have a good time without booze or drugs has won an award.

The Immortals are a self-named group of young people keen to shout for the alternative in Barnsley.

Collaborating with artists, filmmakers and musicians they work to create alternative nights out in the town for young people, promoting a culture that is different from the norm.

They have just been presented with the Marsh Media award in the House of Lords by Baroness Steadman Scott.

They won the award along with a £500 prize for the innovative way they have used different media to engage other young people with alcohol awareness information.
