Click & Collect:

How does click and collect work?

All of the books you can see on our website are available to buy or reserve at our shop. Simply select the titles you’d like and we’ll make sure they’re there waiting for you. You can chose to either pay for the books online or pay for them at collection.

How long will my book be reserved?

If you chose to pay for your book upon collection, we will reserve it for you for 7 days. You will be sent an email to confirm that it has been reserved. All you need to do is bring the email with you when you come to collect your book.

How will I know when my book is ready to be collected?

We’ll first send you a confirmation email informing you that your request has been received. We’ll then contact you again, once your item is ready for collection.

How do I pay for my book?

When using the Click & Collect service, you can chose to either pay for the books online or pay for them at collection. If you select our Home Delivery service, you must pay for your books online using PayPal’s secure payment system (please note: you do not need to sign up for a PayPal account).

What if I change my mind?

If you reserve a book but then change your mind, don’t worry! You will not be charged for any uncollected items.

What items can I order?

If we don’t have the item you’re looking for on our website, don’t worry! We have access to over half a million titles, as well as CDs and DVDs, so just tell us what you’d like and we’ll do our best to get it for you. How long will my order take?

Once your order has been processed, and provided that your item is in stock, your order should be ready for collection from store in 3-5 working days.

Home Delivery orders normally take around 2-3 working days. When ordering multiple items, we will do our best to ensure that your order is grouped into as few deliveries as possible. This means that your order may be held for up to 7 days to allow for any out of stock items to arrive at our warehouse.

How will I know when my order is ready?

Once your order is ready, you will receive a confirmation email so you can come and collect you items.


How much are your delivery costs?

Please find our delivery rates below:

  • In-store delivery (3-5 working days) = FREE
  • Home delivery (2-3 working days) = £3.00

Do you offer next day delivery?

If you need your items in a hurry, we do offer an express delivery service (to either the shop, or your home address) at a charge of £5.00.

Orders for next day delivery must be placed BEFORE 15.00, Monday-Friday inclusive.

Do you deliver overseas?

No, we are currently only able to offer Home Delivery to UK addresses.


How can I pay?

In store we accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, Visa debit cards and National Book Tokens. We only accept credit cards issued by UK banks.

Online payments are made using PayPal (please note: you do not need to sign up for a PayPal account).

Do you accept Book Tokens?

Yes, we accept and sell National Book Tokens in store. Book Tokens cannot be used when purchasing items online.

Refunds & Exchange:

Can I return my items?

If your item is damaged or faulty, we are happy to provide a full refund within 14 days, provided that you present your proof of purchase (receipt).

If you’ve changed your mind about your item, you can return it, along with your receipt, within 14 days and receive a full refund. Please note: the item MUST be returned in a resalable condition.

Can I exchange my items?

We are happy to exchange any item within 14 days of purchase, upon presentation of a valid receipt. This means we can only exchange titles that were originally purchased at Barnsley Bookshop. We do not offer ‘store credit’, so no part-exchanges can be offered.

Please note that academic text books are excluded from all discount structures.

The Discount Policy is as follows:

  • 20% discount for Students (upon production of a valid student card)
  • 20% discount for OAPs 60+ (with proof of age)
