A BARNSLEY couple due to hold their wedding reception at Ardsley House in September were left 'angry' and 'disgusted' after being told they would need to find another venue - for the second time.

Last week, the Chronicle revealed the future of the hotel was under review following 'significant losses' and that the 50 staff could face redundancy,, amid fears it could close in August.

Tony Batty and wife-to-be be Joanne Tasker, of Derby Street, had booked the hotel for their reception after they get married at St Mary's Church, Barnsley on September 6.

Tony, 48, and Joanne had originally planned to get married at a hotel in Lincolnshire in May last year but cancelled when it closed down.

The couple considered pulling out of Ardsley House in January, when rumours of financial problems started to circulate but were reassured everything was ok by staff.

In March, the hotel's owner Forestdale Hotels went into administration and was bought out by St James Hotel Group which is holding the review.

As a precaution, couples with wedding bookings from August onwards have been offered a refund and assistance finding alternative venues.

Tony and Joanne's wedding reception has now been booked at the Holiday Inn at Dodworth.
