Lucas Sutheren of Vaughan Road, Gawber, and his family were asked to go on the three-day holiday by renowned hairdresser Tony Rizzo.

He founded the Alternative Hair Show in 1983 following the death of his son Valentino and has since raised more than £8m for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Lucas's mum Jill said the trip, with 20 other families, had really lifted Lucas's spirits.

"It has been a real boost for Lucas, he absolutely loved it," she said.

"We went to a wild west show one night and on the third day we went to a Disney hotel and had tea and all the Disney characters came.

"It was really touching to see how happy all the kids' faces looked."
