Chronicle columnist Milly Johnson is up for an award for her book, It's Raining Men.

The Barnsley author has been shortlisted for the Romantic Novellists' Association annual awards in the romantic comedy novel category and will find out if she's won at a ceremony in London on March 17, being presented by Strictly Coming Dancing's Darcey Bussell.

Milly said she was delighted: "I feel as if I'm up for an Oscar, that's how excited I am. Especially as, in the past, I was told that I should stop dreaming about writing stories and concentrate on getting a proper job - that I should stop fooling myself that ordinary girls from Barnsley wrote books."

The winner will receive a cheque for £5000 and a trophy.
