A grandma fears a child will be killed because Barnsley Council has refused Jump Primary School's requests for a pedestrian crossing and a lollipop lady.
Lesley Batty, 49, of Roebuck Hill, Jump, said her nine-year-old granddaughter who attends the school was nearly run over by a reversing car outside the school.
She said: "The pavements are not safe for walking on due to cars driving up on them to get parked. My nine-year-old missed being hit by a car by centimetres while walking on the pavement."
Mrs Batty takes four of her grandchildren to school every day and described the traffic at peak times of 9am and 3.30pm as "horrendous."
She said: "I'm seriously concerned for all the children's welfare. It's only a matter of time before an accident will happen and the problem is seriously getting out of hand. It's getting to the point where drivers just don't care and someone is going to get killed."
A Barnsley Council spokesman said: "We are aware of the school's request for crossing assistance at this location and will comment further as soon as possible."
