Homeless Dean get keys to new house

Three months ago Dean Sanders was living behind a bus shelter in the town centre.

But on Monday he was handed the keys to his new home on James Street.

Dean, 40, had lived rough in the recess of the Lifestyles Fitness gym on Shambles Street, which opened in August.

In an interview with the Chronicle, Dean said: "I'm excited and nervous but it's smashing and makes a change from where I used to live.

"I didn't know what to think or what to expect, I'm bowled over by it all - It's a class job."

He said was looking forward to a night his new bed, which would be more comfortable than the floor.
