We all know it's fun to be at the YMCA - and it was even more fun in Barnsley when the YMCA charity shop partied for its first anniversary.

Staff at the shop on Peel Street got into the Village People spirit to celebrate and wore costumes made famous by the 1970s' disco combo, including cowboy, Indian and leatherman.

They even did a rendition or two of the classic YMCA song.

The shop has had a successful 12 months and intends to build on that over the coming year, with special one-year anniversary offers, games, raffles and refreshments.

A percentage of the shop's profits are used to support the work of the Barnsley YMCA. This includes help for the homeless, and local, national and international youth work and a community space for local groups.

YMCA shop manager Dawn Selwood said: "We are always in need of quality donations of clothes, bric-a-brac, DVDs and CDs. We also sell furniture which we will collect free of charge and electricals."
