MIDSOMER Murders star Neil Dudgeon visited Penistone to film part of a new series of BBC Two show Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

The 53-year-old, who plays DCI John Barnaby in the hit ITV detective drama, was joined at J and B Antiques and Collectables on St Mary's Street by antiques expert Catherine Southon.

The pair visited various antique centres across Yorkshire, including Cawthorne Antiques, before heading to Penistone.

Ben Donnachie, who owns J and B Antiques with his father John, said: "Although they did not purchase anything from us on this particular occasion, it was a great pleasure to have them here filming as this will promote our lovely historic market town."

The programme, which will be shown in spring next year, requires contestants to travel around the country in search of hidden treasures to take to auction and sell for profit.
